Batons and Handcuffs Training

This course will qualify you to carry baton and handcuffs when required and authorised by your current security employer. You will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for two Units of Competency:

  • CPPSEC3014A Control persons using baton
  • CPPSEC3015A Restrain persons using handcuffs

You will learn how to use a baton to defend self and others within the law and the correct procedures for applying handcuffs safely and securely using sound judgement.

This course is only available for licensed security guards and you must bring your current security license with you to enrol.

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
This is SafeWork NSW approved General Construction Induction Training (GIT) for the purposes of gaining a White Card or Construction Induction Card (CIC).
Pre-requisites

  • Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Provide 100 Points of ID. If you do not have the required identification you will not be able to commence training. All ID must be originals not certified copies.
  • Successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test prior to enrolment.
  • Enclosed footwear at all times and neat and tidy attire.
  • Agree to turn off mobile phones during class time and place them away. Acknowledge that failure to do so will result in a removal from class and forfeiture of tuition fee.
Content
General Induction Training provides persons entering the construction industry with a basic knowledge of requirements under WHS laws, the common hazards and risks likely to be encountered on construction sites and how these risks should be controlled.

NSW Class 1A (Unarmed Guard) and Class 1C (Crowd Control)
To work in NSW as a Security Officer, new entrants will be required to complete the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations, as required by the NSW Police Force, Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate (SLED). Candidates will be able to apply to SLED for their FULL NSW 1A and 1C security licence. Our prices also include HLTAID003 Perform First Aid, which is also a requirement to gain your licence.
Entry Requirements
As stipulated by SLED, students must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have full Australian work rights
  • You must provide 100 Points of Identification upon enrolment
  • Be a fit and proper person to hold class of licence sought
  • Meet prescribed Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements
Duration
You have the choice of attending a DAY COURSE or an EVENING COURSE, comprising 102 hours of face to face learning in a classroom and simulated work environment.
  • Day Course: This runs over 10 days. Monday to Friday in Week 1 and Monday to Friday in Week 2. Classes start at 0800 and finish at 1900 each day.
  • Evening Course: This runs over 14 days straight. Monday to Sunday in Week 1 and Monday to Sunday in Week 2. Classes start at 1600 and finish at either 2230 or 2300 depending on the day.

COURSE COST: $590 Day Course (Including First Aid) or $690 Evening Course (including First Aid). You pay a$400 upfront fee to secure your place and the balance on the first day of the course.

NSW Class 1F (Armed Guard)
This course will be offered to candidates that hold a current NSW 1AC Security Licence and wish to upgrade their skills in order to be eligible to apply for a NSW Class 1F Armed Guard security licence. 
Entry Requirements
  • Star Training requires that candidates hold a current NSW Class 1AC Security Licence (must be sighted prior to commencement).
  • Evidence of currency in First Aid, HLTFA311A or HLTAID003.
Duration
Students will be required to attend 102 hours of face to face learning in a classroom and simulated workplace environment. The course runs over 10 days, Monday to Friday in Week 1 and Monday to Friday in Week 2 from 0800 to 1830 daily. If you wish to obtain your NSW Class 1B Body-guarding endorsement, you can attend a further three days training immediately after Week 2.
IMPORTANT: If you wish to add Body-guarding Class 1B you can complete an additional 3 days training for $300; enquire about this option with administration after you enrol for Class 1F.

CPP40707 Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management

This qualification is suited to individuals who are responsible for, assisting with and maintaining, security and risk management. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use well-developed skills to evaluate security vulnerability and risk, as well as develop security counter measures for their organisation or clients across a broad security spectrum including, IT Security, Physical and Personal Security, Data Security and Commercial Security. The course is best suited to those who are employed and working in the security industry and are ready to advance and take on roles at the middle management level or who wish to work as an independent security consultant and contractor.

This course is mandatory for those who wish to obtain their NSW Class 2A (Security Consultants) licence.

There are no pre-requisite entry requirements for these programs; however we would expect you already work in the security industry, or you exhibit a strong sense of leadership and focus, as this course ideally suits those who are serious about progressing and maintaining a career in the security industry.

The course is run as a distance learning program, studying self paced over 12 months. You can commence at any time with access to all learning and assessment materials via the student portal. You will be allocated an online trainer/assessor who you can communicate with via the student portal. You may finish earlier depending on how many hours you can commit to each week and your prior experience in the industry. HLTAID001 PROVIDE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This course is suitable for people who need to conduct annual refresher training, maintain workplace skills or those who simply want to be equipped with a critical life saving skill.

The course will equip individuals with the knowledge and skills required to manage a life-threatening emergency and deliver rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a person with no signs of life. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Personal Protective Equipment including disposable face shields.

Course location and timings

Granville every Wednesday - 9am to 12pm and Liverpool every Saturday - 9am to 12pm.

Structure

We run our courses as mixed mode delivery. This means you need to complete a pre-course assessment workbook prior to attending a 3 hour practical session. The workbook will be sent to you electronically on enrolment.

Pre-requisites

You must complete the theory workbook component and submit via return email to admin@startraining.edu.au or in person, at least 48 hours prior to attending your practical training day. Do not skip components of the workbook, you must read each section and complete all activities as this is important fundamental learning. If you have not completed and submitted the assessment sheet prior to the practical training day, you will not be admitted to class. HLTAID003 PROVIDE FIRST AID

This first aid course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including treating an unconscious casualty, performing CPR and controlling bleeding. HLTAID003 Provide First Aid is the standard course required for employment in many industries and job roles.

This course is mandatory for those working in security, childcare and education, aged care and disability and for roles including Workplace First Aiders and for Continuing Professional Development for Nursing.

HLTAID004 PROVIDE AN EMERGENCY FIRST AID RESPONSE IN AN EDUCATION AND CARE SETTING

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. It applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This course is mandatory for those working in early childhood education and care, aged care.

Traffic Control Combination Course

Participants may elect to enrol and study toward both licence classes as this is the preferred skill level required by Traffic Control companies and the industry, particularly for new entrant to the market. Successful participants will receive Statements of Attainment for RIISS00044 Work Zone Traffic Control – Traffic Controller Skill Set and RIISS00041 Work Zone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set. You will be issued initially with a Statement of Completion for each program, which allows you to work immediately for 90 days, during which time a final live assessment needs to take place on a live site where you are working. 

Price: $454 including the additional charges of $22 for each of the competency photo-cards, collected on behalf of RMS. Final live assessment incurs an additional charge of $50 for the assessor to visit your live site.
