Batons and Handcuffs Training

This course will qualify you to carry baton and handcuffs when required and authorised by your current security employer. You will receive a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment for two Units of Competency:

  • CPPSEC3014A Control persons using baton
  • CPPSEC3015A Restrain persons using handcuffs

You will learn how to use a baton to defend self and others within the law and the correct procedures for applying handcuffs safely and securely using sound judgement.

This course is only available for licensed security guards and you must bring your current security license with you to enrol.

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
This is SafeWork NSW approved General Construction Induction Training (GIT) for the purposes of gaining a White Card or Construction Induction Card (CIC).
Pre-requisites

  • Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Provide 100 Points of Identification (ID). If you do not have the required ID you will not be able to commence training. All ID must be originals not certified copies.
  • Check your Evidence of Identity (EOI) by downloading and completing the EOI SELF ASSESSMENT.
  • Successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test prior to enrolment.
  • Enclosed footwear at all times and neat and tidy attire.
  • Agree to turn off mobile phones during class time and place them away. Acknowledge that failure to do so will result in a removal from class and forfeiture of tuition fee.
Content
General Induction Training provides persons entering the construction industry with a basic knowledge of requirements under WHS laws, the common hazards and risks likely to be encountered on construction sites and how these risks should be controlled.

NSW Class 1A (Unarmed Guard), Class 1C (Crowd Control) and Class 1E (Monitoring Centre Operator)
To work in NSW as a Security Officer, new entrants will be required to complete the CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations, as required by the NSW Police Force, Security Licensing and Enforcement Directorate (SLED). Candidates will be able to apply to SLED for their FULL NSW  Class 1ACE security licence. Our prices also include HLTAID003 Perform First Aid, which is also a requirement to gain your licence.
Entry Requirements
As stipulated by SLED, students must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have full Australian work rights
  • You must provide 100 Points of Identification upon enrolment (Please ensure you can produce a passport, birth certificate or citizenship certificate as one of the pieces of evidence). 
  • Be a fit and proper person to hold class of licence sought
  • Meet prescribed Language, Literacy and Numeracy requirements

Duration
You have the choice of attending a DAY COURSE or an EVENING COURSE, comprising 102 hours of face to face learning in a classroom and simulated work environment.
  • Day Course: This runs over 10 days. Monday to Friday in Week 1 and Monday to Friday in Week 2. Classes start at 0800 and finish at 1900 each day.
  • Evening Course: This runs over 14 days straight. Monday to Sunday in Week 1 and Monday to Sunday in Week 2. Classes start at 1600 and finish at either 2230 or 2300 depending on the day.
  • Weekend Course: This runs over 5 weekends, every Saturday and Sunday from 0800 to 1900.

COURSE COST: $690 including First Aid.

HLTAID001 PROVIDE CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). This course is suitable for people who need to conduct annual refresher training, maintain workplace skills or those who simply want to be equipped with a critical life saving skill.

The course will equip individuals with the knowledge and skills required to manage a life-threatening emergency and deliver rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a person with no signs of life. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Personal Protective Equipment including disposable face shields.

Course location and timings

Granville every Wednesday - 9am to 12pm and Liverpool every Saturday - 9am to 12pm.

Structure

We run our courses as mixed mode delivery. This means you need to complete a pre-course assessment workbook prior to attending a 3 hour practical session. The workbook will be sent to you electronically on enrolment.

Pre-requisites

You must complete the theory workbook component and submit via return email to admin@startraining.edu.au or in person, at least 48 hours prior to attending your practical training day. Do not skip components of the workbook, you must read each section and complete all activities as this is important fundamental learning. If you have not completed and submitted the assessment sheet prior to the practical training day, you will not be admitted to class. There are no exceptions to this rule. The workbook will take between 3-4 hours to complete depending on your skill level.

Award

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the Unit of Competency HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Australian Resuscitation council recommends you refresh CPR annually.

HLTAID003 PROVIDE FIRST AID

This first aid course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to manage emergency first aid situations, including treating an unconscious casualty, performing CPR and controlling bleeding. HLTAID003 Provide First Aid is the standard course required for employment in many industries and job roles.

This course is mandatory for those working in security, childcare and education, aged care and disability and for roles including Workplace First Aiders and for Continuing Professional Development for Nursing.

HLTAID004 PROVIDE AN EMERGENCY FIRST AID RESPONSE IN AN EDUCATION AND CARE SETTING

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults. It applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This course is mandatory for those working in early childhood education and care, aged care.

This course provides training for personnel who are required to set up and work with Traffic Control Guidance Plans/Traffic Control Plans at a work site. You will learn to:

  • Identify safety implications of traffic control at road works and personal responsibilities
  • Set up and close down traffic control devices according to a nominated TCGS/TCP
  • Check, clean and store equipment on completion of work and close down a TCP

SITHFAB002 Provide responsible service of alcohol

RSA training applies to all levels of sales personnel involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor sales persons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; and supplier sales representatives. The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.

Eligibility

  • Must be at least 14 years of age to do the training. Until you turn 18 however, you are not allowed to sell, serve or supply alcohol on a licensed premises.
  • You need to provide us with photo identification at enrolment and prior to commencing your training. This can include a Drivers Licence, NSW Photo Card or Proof of Age Card or a Passport.
  • Successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test prior to enrolment.

SITHGAM001 Provide responsible gambling services

The course has been designed to satisfy the requirements of clause 51 of the Gaming Machines Regulation 2002. It requires all secretaries of registered clubs with gaming machines, all hoteliers with gaming machines, and employees of registered clubs and hotels whose duties include gaming machine activities to have completed a Responsible Conduct of Gambling course approved by the Casino, Liquor & Gaming Control Authority.Responsible provision of gambling services is an essential underpinning skill for all hospitality personnel involved in the sale and service of gambling activities in licensed premises, including the licensee, gaming supervisors and gaming managers when involved in operational gambling activities.

Eligibility

  • Legislation prohibits people under 18 from being involved in gambling activities including the operating of an approved gaming machine, however training can be undertaken from the age of 14 and up.
  • You need to provide us with photo identification at enrolment and prior to commencing your training. This can include a Drivers Licence, NSW Photo Card or Proof of Age Card or a Passport.
  • Successfully complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Test prior to enrolment.
  • Enclosed footwear at all times and neat and tidy attire.

Traffic Control Combination Course

Participants may elect to enrol and study toward both licence classes as this is the preferred skill level required by Traffic Control companies and the industry, particularly for new entrant to the market. Successful participants will receive Statements of Attainment for RIISS00044 Work Zone Traffic Control – Traffic Controller Skill Set and RIISS00041 Work Zone Traffic Control – Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan Skill Set. You will be issued initially with a Statement of Completion for each program, which allows you to work immediately for 90 days, during which time a final live assessment needs to take place on a live site where you are working. 

Price: $454 including the additional charges of $22 for each of the competency photo-cards, collected on behalf of RMS. Final live assessment incurs an additional charge of $50 for the assessor to visit your live site.
